Showing My Hand

Before we begin discussing the states, I feel that I should “show my hand.”  Here are my top 10 cheats when planning trips around the USA (in no order).  They’re a lot of fun to check out and each is filled with a tremendous amount of information.

  1. Each state has a tourism website - http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/Travel_Tourism/State_Tourism.shtml
  2. The National Park Service website – http://www.nps.gov/index.htm
  3. America’s Byways - http://byways.org/
  4. Road Trip America’s website - http://www.roadtripamerica.com/
  5. Trip Advisor - http://www.tripadvisor.com/
  6. Kayak - http://www.kayak.com/
  7. Yahoo Travel - http://travel.yahoo.com/
  8. Roadside America - http://www.roadsideamerica.com/
  9. Travel Books that you should not buy – just check out their websites, and view the books either in your local public library or at a book store
    1. Lonely Planet - http://www.lonelyplanet.com/
    2. Frommers - http://www.frommers.com/
  10. Travel Magazines that again you should not buy – just check out their websites, and view the issues either in your local public library or at a book store
    1. Budget Travel Magazine - http://www.budgettravel.com/
    2. Travel and Leisure Magazine - http://www.travelandleisure.com/
Next week: Alabama with toe-tappin tunes and finger-licking food!
